Meet Our Dance Instructors
Portage la Prairie dancer and instructor Stefanie McKim is part of the faculty for Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment’s Dance Program 2019-2020 Season. Stefanie is very familiar with Prairie Fusion, as she began dancing education at Prairie Fusion when she was a young child. Upon graduating high school, Stefanie attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. She completed the two-year diploma program at the college and conservatory of the performing arts with a focus on acting, musicianship, and dance.
Alèxe has been training in multiple styles of dance for 10 years now and teaching hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, variety, lyrical, and contemporary for over five years. She graduated from the Dance College of Manitoba in June 2016, where she completed an intense nine-month program filled with classes and choreography from the best in Manitoba and Canada. Her passion for dance has brought her all over the world, as she trained everywhere from Harbour Dance Centre in Vancouver, to BodyVox in Portland, Oregon, to Mad Dance House in Brisbane, Australia. She loves to teach dance because she gets to share her passion with others, but also gets to fuel the passion in her students. She is so thankful to have been given the opportunity to be a part of the team. Come dance with her!
Helene Lucko received her initial dance instruction as a child at the Ukrainian National Federation (UNF) School of Dance in Winnipeg. From there, she joined the Orlan Ukrainian Folk Ensemble in the late 1970s. As a member until 1991, Helene had the opportunity to hone her skills and to perform and tour. The exhilaration and satisfaction of performing is something she loves to share with young dancers, by exposing them to community performances and dance festivals. Helene has been instructing Ukrainian Dance in Portage with the Portage Vesna Ukrainian Dancers since 1993 and continues to enjoy sharing her dance knowledge and culture.
