Modular Fields by Timothy Brown
Timothy Brown is a multidisciplinary artist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His work has focused on identity and lineage in the face of grief, trauma, and control. Timothy works with a wide variety of mediums which include video, audio/visual installations, sound, drawing, and more. He has worked as an art educator at the University of Manitoba and has held a variety of positions within the art community here in the province. He is also a member of the Frost Shield Kerfuffle, a Winnipeg-based art collective. Most recently, he attended the Early Career Banff Artist in Residency Program where he began developing a new body of work which focused on self-healing and the escape from isolated spaces through video, interactive, and exploratory pieces. His increasingly heavy focus on lens and technologybased mediums has led to a deeply introspective examination of the intangibility of temporal relationships and how they can act as conduit between emotion and memory.
For Modular Fields, Timothy has used acrylic paint and gesso to create a uniquely modular display that can be displayed in several different configurations.
