SMARTS IDENTIY PROJECT
Students at Oakville School worked with a local artist, Lee Beaton to create personal drawings that showed what they felt symbolized their individual identities. Kindergarten to Grade 2 students worked on collage using person photos so they are not on display. Grades 3 to 5 used Conté pastels to sketch out their symbols while students in grade 6 to 8 used vine charcoal.
Beaton worked with the students each week for five weeks and some of the memorable moments were the feedback from the students on what they enjoyed about the project. Many enjoyed learning how to use the drawing medium and blend it while others enjoyed that they had the freedom to create whatever they wanted.
This project is on display until June 11. Make sure you sign the guest book when you visit.
